The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia provides support for people with permanent and significant disabilities. Physiotherapy services are among the supports that may be funded under the NDIS.
To access physiotherapy services under the NDIS, a person must have an approved NDIS plan and have their physiotherapy needs assessed by a qualified healthcare professional. The NDIS provides funding for physiotherapy services for participants with a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to:
- Cerebral palsy
- Spinal cord injuries
- Multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s disease
- Muscular dystrophy
- Stroke Traumatic brain injury
- Developmental delay or disability
- Intellectual disability
The specific physiotherapy services that are funded under the NDIS will depend on the individual’s needs and goals, as outlined in their NDIS plan. These services may include assessments, treatment sessions, equipment, and home exercise programs.
